Submission is a 10-minute film by directed by Theo van Gogh and written by Miss Ayaan Hirsi Ali,
a Liberal party member of the Lower House of the Netherlands Parliament.
The film seeks to highlight the mistreatment of women born to Muslim families. The film was shown on the Dutch public broadcasting network (VPRO) on August 29, 2004. The film displays the bodies of Muslim women who have been beaten.
The bodies are used in the film as a canvas for verses from the Quran used by Muslim to determine husband-wife relations.
The women include one that suffers wife beating and one that is raped by her uncle.
The film is controversial. According to Mohammed Sini of the Islamic and Citizenship Foundation, the film is offensive to Muslims, stating: "If there is a reaction, Theo van Gogh will have
to protect her (Ayaan Hirsi Ali)."
The film was dismissed by Nabil Marmouch, the Dutch representative of
the Arab Europe League, who said, "I know what she is up to with this
film. She wants extra security and she wants others to feel sorry for her.
She is simply looking for attention."
A Labour party member of the Lower House of the Netherlands
Parliament, Mrs. Khadija Arib, said, "I admire anyone who wishes to
point out that the mistreatment and oppression of women is an evil. I question, however, whether this is the right way to do it. I am truly concerned that Hirsi Ali simply wishes to be confrontational when
presenting others with this message."
This movie used to be the first par in a row of 3...Sadly enough has Theo van Gogh never been able to make part 2( about the discrimination of homosexuals in the muslimworld) and 3 there he got killed in cold blood by a muslim after making this movie.
The muderer has been sent for life to prison.
Ayaan Hirshi Ali ..the Dutch member of Parliament received several death threads which made her decide to go hide at kept secret locations.
The Dutch were furious about the homicide of Theo van Gogh and showed their anger by setting religious muslim buildings / schools on fire.

The story involves college students who take a picnic on an indian burial ground. One of them becomes possessed by a spirit and goes on a murder spree.

I'm not sure why evil, decadent Mrs. Robinson sets her sights on dazed and shy college grad Benjamin Braddock, son of the middle-aged couple she and her husband socialize with; it's never really explained, and neither is Benjamin's sexual past (it's hinted that he's a virgin when they end up in a hotel room together). It's also not explained why Mrs. Robinson definitely does not want Benjamin to get to know her daughter (she's so angrily adamant about it that the question surely arises; she's even willing to expose her own affair to prevent the two kids from going out for a drive!). Despite the gaps in the narrative and the lapses in logic (and taste, some might say), "The Graduate" is still a landmark film, crystallizing the helplessness of the '60's. Surprisingly, the ultimate theme of the movie is love--an impulsive, rebellious kind of love, but still the rather old-fashioned notion of love conquering all. And yet this brings up another question: is Benjamin really in love with sweet college girl Elaine or is she just a conquest? Or maybe the best thorn he can stick in Mrs. Robinson's side? Benjmain is told he cannot see her, he cannot have her, and that surely fuels his desire to marry her. The film presents love as the answer, but then (with an amusing, sobering final shot) second-guesses itself. "The Graduate" doesn't dig too deeply, it's lightweight (even with Dustin Hoffman's outburst in the church--the only time the movie gets some fury going), but it does take chances; it wasn't ahead of its time, it just came along at the right time and is still a relevant, glossy modern comedy. SKIN: A Mortal Work of Art
Writer Shelley Jackson invites participants in a new work entitled “Skin.” Each participant must agree to have one word of the story tattooed upon his or her body. The text will be published nowhere else, and the author will not permit it to be summarized, quoted, described, set to music, or adapted for film, theater, television or any other medium. The full text will be known only to participants, who may, but need not choose to establish communication with one another.
Participants will be known as “words.” Only the death of words effaces them from the text. As words die the story will change; when the last word dies the story will also have died. The author will make every effort to attend the funerals of her words.

Except for a brief stint in Los Angeles, 24 year old Eric Sizemore has lived in Alabama for his entire life and he says his photography reflects the pains and joys of being openly gay in the deep South. Much of his work is both sexy and eerie; Sizemore says he's replicating his coming out process by producing series on things like high school gym class, his first kiss, and tricking. In an interview at Queerty, Sizemore says many of his models were initially uncomfortable posing for the camera. "While I was intently working on this project, I was afraid that I wouldn't get it finished for lack of subjects. The 'Click a Trick' segment was actually a trick. [He] gave me the inspiration to work on this project. That's one reason I didn't print faces, or tried to scratch out the faces on the negatives when needed. I also did this to highlight the anonymity of sex in the closet."
